Have you watched the Fyre Festival documentary on Netflix yet? I’ve been talking about it with friends all week. And it doesn’t help that I read Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, this week, which tells the story of another young and controversial entrepreneur (Theranos founder, Elizabeth Holmes).
In 2015 Elizabeth Holmes was named the youngest and wealthiest self-made female billionaire in America, and she was pitted at the next Steve Jobs. But by the following year it had become clear that Holmes’ company was based on a series of false claims, and she had a dramatic fall from grace. (I couldn’t help but draw parallels to Fyre Festival’s Billy McFarland).
Bad Blood investigates Holmes’ rise and fall, and the book is currently being adapted for screen, with Jennifer Lawrence set to play Elizabeth Holmes. I cannot wait!
Anyway, onto more talking points from the week…
